Since 1935, the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce (HCCC) has provided a foundation that has helped the African-American business community to survive and thrive in a complex society.
This community service organization was formed by a group of businessmen and businesswomen who saw the need to strengthen our community through unity of African-American businesspersons and community to improve the quality of life and promote growth and development of business interests and issues within the Greater Houston area.
HCCC's foundation is built on the vision of African-American businesses, professionals and ministries who shared information, energy and ideas to overcome the struggles and obstacles African-Americans have undergone to enter into the business and corporate world and entrepreneurial leadership.
The survival of the organization is based on the determination of the members and supporters, despite the economic challenges, community indifferences and level of support to service the community by embracing today's technology and partnerships. Building on this foundation and determination, HCCC is evolving its programs to assist African-American businesses to become more diverse and move into the global arena.
African-American businesses have always been engaged in a diversified economic era. HCCC, as a trailblazer, is concerned about the loss of African-American owned businesses in Houston and municipal growth. Therefore, the chamber has taken up the challenge to educate our community to become self-reliant and mutually supportive by partnering with other community organizations.
HCCC, with the unity of others, will continue to face and overcome the challenges of today's business and community through commitment, hard work and the dedication necessary to pave the way for minority business growth in Houston.
